England, Scotland and Wales
Voters in England, Scotland and Wales must show photo ID to vote at polling stations in certain elections and referendums.
The requirement to present photo ID before voting includes:
- UK parliamentary elections, including general elections and by-elections (England, Scotland and Wales)
- Recall petitions (England, Scotland and Wales)
- Police and Crime Commissioner elections (England and Wales only)
- Local and mayoral elections and by-elections (England only)
Voters in Wales do not need to show photo ID to vote at Senedd elections or local council elections. Voters in Scotland do not need to show photo ID to vote at Scottish Parliament elections or council elections.
